Programs

The PTA organizes many programs to help and support Travilah Families.

MOVIE NIGHTS

Travilah kids love to enjoy a night out with their friends and families and so we do a couple movie nights each year! On movie night, come with a blanket to spread out and relax while enjoying a show in the All-purpose room.  Pizza and concessions will be on sale so you can enjoy dinner or snacks too.  This is a fun event for our Travilah community to spend an evening together! (Please note, this is NOT a drop off event.)

BOOK FAIR

Bookaneer Book Fair is from 11/10 to 11/17 where you will find the latest and finest titles for the whole family!

Students will visit the fair with their classes on Thursday 11/10, Friday 11/11 and Monday 11/14 to make wish lists.  Mark your calendar for our “GRAND” Event  (Grandparents, Relatives, Aunts/Uncles, Neighbors & Dedicated Caregivers) on Friday 11/15  from 1:30-3:30pm and “Family Fun Night” on Wednesday 11/16 from 6-8pm.

You can also visit our online Scholastic Book fair at www.scholastic.com/fair from 11/1 – 11/21 and the books you order will be delivered for free directly to your child’s classroom.  (Look for the link on our PTA website)  You can contribute books to your child’s classroom library.   Students can make their own wish list and invite family and friends to visit the online fair.

We will also be collecting loose change at the register for the All for Books program to provide book scholarships to needy students.

See you at the fair!

Before/After School Programs:  Please refer to the Enrichment Page
 Back To School Picnic
Travilah welcomes all new/kindergarten families as well as returning families to a new school year! We celebrate the start of the year with a gathering of community on the school grounds.  The PTA provides fun through games, entertainment, music, food and more! This year we celebrated the Travilah Back to School Picnic with some wonderful games, a moon bounce, DJ, food vendors and a fun Magic Show.  You can review the flyer from Back To School .
 Cultural Arts
The PTA brings in several wonderful assemblies throughout the year from MCPTA approved vendors/performers to enlighten our children in culture and education. These assemblies occur during school hours as special presentations to the students.  We will share with you what we have lined up for the year as soon as performances are confirmed.
Halloween Parade/Parties Happenings
Each year, the students of Travilah participate in a school wide Halloween costume parade. Participation is not required, but students do enjoy dressing up to walk with their class about the school grounds and show off their creative dress up plans for the season. Parents are invited to line the parking lot and field and view the parade of costumed children! This year the parade will start at 2:15pm (Please note, the calendar states 2pm but it will actually begin at 2:15pm. ) Bring you cameras and enjoy the event! Afterwards, children usually return to their classes to enjoy a class party.  This is not an event for parents to join in however, unless you are signed up as a “room parent”. For the younger siblings not in school yet, Travilah PTA offers Halloween Happenings in the All Purpose Room following the parade.  Kids enjoy games, prizes, snacks and fun! Please note, parents/guardians must be in attendance with younger ones at all times.
Spelling Bee
Each year the PTA sponsors Travilah’s participation in the National Scrips Spelling Bee.  Children enjoy participating in a class bee to then win a spot to represent their class/grade level in the school spelling bee.  The winner of that Bee is then given opportunity to move up in this national spelling program!
 World Culture Night
The PTA enjoys celebrating our rich diversity by presenting World Culture Night. This year it will be in the All Purpose Room Friday, December 9, 2016. Consider participating in this wonderful event to experience and celebrate the colorful cultural diversity our school has to offer. It is a fun filled event with lot of kids performances, amazing food from various countries, fellow parents, and Travilah kids dressed up in their traditional outfit — you name it!
